BITCOIN · CREATE & INSPECT

Bitcoin QR code generator & payment link inspector

Create a Bitcoin payment request or check the address and amount inside an existing link. Free, local checks with an offline edition.

Runs in your browserBTC / sats

Bitcoin mainnet, on-chain requests. The amount excludes the sender’s network fee.

From receiving address to payment QR

Copy a fresh receiving address from your Bitcoin wallet, optionally enter an amount, then create a request. Share the QR image or the complete bitcoin: link. A compatible wallet can read the address and amount.

Check the request before paying

Use Inspect to read a pasted link or a saved QR image without opening a wallet. Compare the full receiving address with the recipient through a trusted channel. A valid checksum helps catch typing errors; it does not identify the owner or confirm that an address is safe.

What is in the QR?

The public receiving address, an optional BTC amount, and optional label/message. For example, 25,000 sats becomes amount=0.00025 BTC. Labels and messages are wallet metadata, not a memo recorded on the blockchain.

What does this support?

Creation supports Bitcoin mainnet legacy, script, native SegWit and Taproot addresses. Inspection also recognises test-network addresses and flags future witness programs. Lightning, offers, callbacks and other payment instructions are shown as uninterpreted. Unsupported required instructions stop inspection. The complete original link remains visible when inspection is partial.

Does this confirm a payment?

A payment request is not a receipt. Confirm the transaction and the required confirmations in your receiving wallet. These simple requests have no enforced expiry. Wallet support varies; inspect the address, amount and network shown by the payer’s wallet before approving.

Privacy and offline use

Address checks, image decoding and QR generation happen on this device. This tool does not send, save or look up entered addresses. Anyone you share a QR or link with can read its public address and metadata. Reusing a Bitcoin address can link payments; get a fresh address from your wallet for each request.

Keep a copy that works offline

Download and extract the kit, then open index.html in a modern browser. Keep its files together. The offline edition includes the readable source and open-source licences.

Download offline kit (.zip)

Plan the payment, then verify it

Use the BTC and satoshi converter for exact units, Bitcoin fee planner to explore transaction-size assumptions, and pre-send checklist to review recipient details. The latest Bitcoin blocks provide network context; your wallet is the place to confirm receipt.

How the local checks work

Legacy addresses use Base58Check with a double SHA-256 checksum. Native SegWit uses Bech32, and Taproot uses Bech32m. This workbench creates the basic on-chain address, amount, label and message subset of Bitcoin payment URIs. It does not implement every instruction supported by the newer URI specification.

Standards: Bitcoin payment URI specification (BIP 321), Bech32 (BIP 173), Bech32m (BIP 350) and Bitcoin address conversion. Image decoding uses jsQR (Apache 2.0). QR generation uses Project Nayuki’s MIT-licensed library; Bech32 checking uses bitcoinjs/bech32. Source and licence notices.

How to use the Bitcoin payment QR workbench

  1. Choose Create a request, paste a fresh public mainnet receiving address and optionally enter BTC or sats.
  2. Create the QR and compare the full address and amount before copying or downloading.
  3. To check an existing request, choose Inspect a link or address; paste its text or expand the saved-image option.
